Fairies & Festivals

May 17th, 2010

Summer is officially here, although it may not always seem it if you look out of your window. Although good weather can’t be guaranteed, there are a few things that can; the clocks going forward, school holidays and the slew of music festivals that take place across the UK.

Big events such as Glastonbury usually dominate the newspapers because of the amount of mud. However, if you’ve ever been to such a festival or watched one on television, you’ll know that are lots of activities to take part in, and many festivals have dedicated children’s areas. Festivals are all about the expression of freedom and creativity so if you’re off to a festival this summer, you’ll want to make an effort and dress up.

You may want to stand out from the crowd with a fairy outfit. There are lots of striking fairy wings available for adults and children, such as turquoise pixie wings, but there is so much more you can do. You could complete your look with a tutu, a pink sequined tiara and a Silver Star Fairy Wand. If you want a more gothic look, you may opt for the Black Glitter Butterfly Fairy Wings and gothic teardrop style black riding hat.

You’ll probably be camping out at a festival so you could liven up your space by inviting some fairy folk into it. Fairy doors are just the ticket for this, along with some furniture – a fairy picnic bench would be ideal. It’s important to remember that only fairies can open Fairy Doors, so have a camera on hand to take a picture if you’re lucky enough to be visited.

A Fairy Themed Hen Do

April 28th, 2010

Have you ever been to a hen do? Rather than just being another night out on the town, the focus is on the bride-to-be. The chances are that you’ve encountered one at some point, as they are easily spotted – maybe the bride-to-be is wearing a veil, or her bridesmaids and friends are wearing matching outfits or hats.
As it’s a celebration, it’s an ideal opportunity to express your individuality and creativity. For lots of people, just having a few t-shirts especially printed may be enough but there are women who are much more imaginative and want a party to remember.

There are lots of fairy accessories available for the bride-to-be. You could kit your party out with Heart Fairy Wings with a red marabou trim. Featuring love hearts and red ribbons, they have a 46 cm wingspan so you can easily spot your party in a crowded bar. The lucky lady may want to set herself apart with a pair of Bride to Be Fairy Wings and a curling leaf design antique gold style tiara with crystals. A red sequined fairy wand would complete the look and makes a great souvenir of a special night.

If you’ve got ‘fairy fever’, there is no need to stop there. You can display a decorative fairy door in your house or welcome fairies into your garden with one of the many handcrafted, wooden fairy doors available. Fairy garden furniture such as a garden bench or rustic outhouse would be the perfect complement to such a fairy door. It would be the perfect invitation for fairy folk to spend some time in your garden.

To Moonshimmer and Bramblefly

Hi, I have started my own paranormal investigation team in Greensboro, NC. We are called Greensboro Ghost Whisperers. Our group had a meetup at a local coffee shop, and afterwards I took some photos. I can normally sense when a presence is around, the hairs on my arms stand up. I walked outside to the patio and took some photos. I never see spirits at the time, I have to upload them on my computer and look.

In this case, I am baffled and speechless. I got photos of orbs and faces in the air, and something about 4 to 6 inches tall on the ground. Upon magnifying, I can dismiss it as a leaf, since I can clearly see a face, arms and a robe.

Our team has gotten photographs of spirits and apparitions, but this is the first….fairy? I don’t know, you tell me what I got a photo of. Here are the photos and closeups:

img 0072 2 enh. This was a very dark photo taken around 10pm, I simply increased brightness.

img 0071 flying faces, I circled what I see as not dust or pollen, on some of these I see clear faces in the air, and that one thing on the ground.

img 0072 closeup of the “thing on the ground”.

When I magnify and look in the tree, I can actually see many, many faces…

I was actually there because the owner felt his coffee shop had a spirit presence there. I did get photos that night inside the shop, but never dreamed I would get this outside. Your thoughts?

I am leaning towards this being a genuine photo of a fairy. I just don’t know what else it could be….
